About the event
For thousands of years pottery was made by hand and fired outside kilns as we know them today. This hands-on workshop will cover a set of techniques used by ancient peoples to make and decorate pottery. Students in this workshop can expect to have a play with some clay and make a pinch-pot vessel. A secondary and optional workshop will take place after the vessels have had time to dry. There, we will be firing the pots in an open fire, producing earthenware pottery. Materials will be provided. Students are expected to be over the age of thirteen, mature, and focused as this is a course designed with adult students in mind.
