To the Parish of Taradale

Taradale Parish Consultation

Kia ora e te whanau a te Karaiti,

On Sunday 12 April I look forward to joining you as meet for the Parish Consultation.

I will preach and preside at the morning Eucharist at 9am, then following the service we will share in light refreshments before entering the Parish Consultation meeting. I expect the meeting to last around 1.5 hours.

I warmly encourage all parishioners to attend this important meeting. The consultation process is designed to provide rich and useful information that will assist potential candidates as they discern their call to the parish. It is also an opportunity for every voice to be heard, and every contribution will be respected.

As you prepare, I invite you to reflect on the following questions:

1. Mission & Ministry Today: What are the present mission and ministry goals of the parish—both stated and unstated? What is the parish really about at this moment?

2. Strengths: What do you most value about your parish?

3. Areas for Growth: What aspects of ministry need development or strengthening?

4. Future Possibilities: What new areas of local mission might be explored?

5. New Vicar: What key attributes or qualities do you seek in a new Vicar?

An essential part of this process is electing three Parish Nominators to join the People’s Warden, the four Diocesan Nominators, and the Bishop in seeking an appointment.

To be eligible for election as a Parish Nominator, a person must be on the electoral roll and present at the Parish Consultation. If more than three people are nominated, we will hold a paper ballot.

I will hold you in my prayers as we prepare for this meeting together.

Ngā mihi,

The Rt Rev’d Andrew Hedge

Bishop of Waiapu
