Doing Lent Together

Every Lent, we encourage every member and even strangers amongst us to get together to engage in a Lenten Study. While the study itself is always positive, the opportunity to get to know one another, to share our stories and to try something new is always a good one.

Whether or not you have ever been involved in a small group community before, we encourage you to engage in one for the short period of Lent. To help make this possible, we create temporary groups through that season, connecting people who are free at certain times and days of the week with one another to gather and explore a study together.

To achieve this, we invite you to complete a short questionnaire by clicking here which helps us connect people. If you would rather do a physical one, they can be accessed from the church office at All Saints.

We have two set options for study this year, but also have an enormous trove of other resources for areas or subjects that you and your group may be more interested in.

The first option is the study produced by the Reverend Deborah Broome, our Diocesan Ministry Educator. This year the study is entitled This is Good News and explores why the gospel is Good news and how it expresses that. This study can be accessed by clicking here.

The second option is the study offered by the Diocese of Wellington, this year based on the work of Bishop-Elect of the Dunedin Diocese, the Reverend Anne van Gend. This study is called Restoring the Story: A Journey through the Good News of Atonement and is based on Rev Anne's book about the atonement. For those wishing to better understand the Easter story and its meaning, this is an invaluable resource. Beyond this, we encourage you to explore the offerings of Right Now Media, which is a treasure trove of video based studies, bible classes and learning opportunities. As a member of our church, you can get a free subscription to this so please explore and be in touch.
