At the beginning of 2022, Taradale Anglican began a partnership with Tamatea Primary School to bring Duffy Books in Homes back to the school. Duffy Books provides two books per student per term throughout the school year, as well as opportunities to award readers at assemblies.
On Wednesday night, Alan was invited to attend the end of term assembly for Tamatea Primary School to present the Duffy Books Mainfreight Award for Excellence in Attitude. This year the award went to a Year 6 student, Javei, It was noted by the school that "a leader and a role model who follows his own path and consistently makes good choices".
It was a privilege to present the award, and to continue to support Tamatea Primary School in providing books to students. With many homes in the community completely without books, this programme provides not only an option for learning, but also for adventure, discovery and a love for language as young people begin to read.
