Morning Prayer

Did you know that we start our day at All Saints Taradale with Morning Prayer?
Every weekday, a small group of us gather in the side-chapel of the church at 9:15 am for about 20 minutes to pray together.
It is a great way to start the day!
In our busy daily lives, it sets a daily tone of peace, connection with God and with each other.
It also sets a daily rhythm for us which is based on prayer and The Word. We are, after all, a Christian community, a praying community.
Morning prayer serves to centre the mind, invites peace, and sets a purposeful, God-centred intention for the day before distractions begin. It strengthens our faith, reduces our anxieties by surrendering worries early, and aligns personal actions with divine will. It cultivates gratitude and provides spiritual armour to handle challenges.
I don’t know about you, but I could do with some of that!
If you want an idea of what goes on, take a look in the NZ Anglican Prayer Book. Typically, we will follow the pattern of Daily Devotions on pages 104 to 137.
- group and individual prayers, a Psalm, Bible readings.
You are invited to join us. (It doesn’t have to be every day 😊)
It is open to everybody – just show up.
We are there Monday to Friday, staring at 9:15 am, (usually followed by tea / coffee & chat!)
Why not give it a go? We’d love to have you with us.
Prayer Ministry on a Sunday: during our services, after communion, there is always someone sitting in the side-chapel, ready to pray with you or for you. If you have something on your mind, and you would like to receive prayer, please do go over and sit with them for a little while.
Please also feel free to approach any of the ministry team for on-the-spot prayer!
- And you don’t have to be a minister to pray with people; if you’re chatting to someone who you think you could pray for, ask them if they’d like that? - and if they say yes, give it a go! If you’d like some guidance on this, please ask us 😊
+ at other times: if at any time you feel like you would like prayer, please contact any of our ministry team (all the contacts are on the website + on the bulletin each week). We also have a group of great prayer-warriors on our prayer-chain who are glad to receive your prayer requests, and they will pray for you!
Come on Taradale Anglicans, let’s work together to stoke the boiler-room that powers our community; let’s pray!

What a great reminder, thanks Derry!
