Bishop Andrew has announced the appointment of Reverend Christine Scott as interim Priest in Charge.
Introducing The Reverend Christine Scott
I was born in Hamilton and am my late parents, Ken and Jean Scott, eldest child, I have three siblings, Robert, Shona and Andrew. After living in several communities my family moved to Taupo when I was eight. It was there that I undertook most of my schooling.
I trained as a pharmacist at the New Zealand School of Pharmacy in Upper Hutt. After graduating with a Diploma in Pharmacy, I moved to Napier where I lived and worked as a hospital pharmacist in Hawke’s Bay for twenty-two years. While living in Napier I worshipped at Waiapu Cathedral where I was a member of the choir, and other groups in the parish including the vestry.
I undertook ministry training at St John’s Theological College in Auckland for three years. While at St John’s I completed a Bachelor of Theology and a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit.
My ministry experience before retirement from stipendiary ministry includes a Curacy at St Luke’s Rotorua from December 2005 to the end of 2007; Vicar of the Parish of Otorohanga, in the Diocese of Waikato and Taranaki from January 2008 to September 2018; Archdeacon of Waitomo from April 2015 to September 2018; and Vicar of the Parish of Mount Manganui from September 2018 to June 2024. Since retirement, I have settled back at Waiapu Cathedral and have been conducting occasional services in Hastings and Napier.

I am looking forward to being a part of the Parish of Taradale as your Priest-in-Charge over the next few months.
