Sacrament of Confirmation

On Sunday, October 12 Bishop Andrew will be at All Saints to offer the sacrament of Confirmation as well as Renewal of Baptismal Vows. This sacrament is connected with the act of baptism and is the sealing and completion of the initiation into the church and marks a moment in which the Bishop, on behalf of the church, prays that the candidate would receive the Holy Spirit and be empowered for the ministry to which they are called.

Historically, Confirmation was the way in which those baptised as children took on the promises and commitments of the faith for themselves. Beyond this, however, there is a degree to which Confirmation now serves as a means by which we claim our place in the particular life of the Anglican Church and declare that it is our 'turangawaeware' or 'standing ground' within the life of faith.

Confirmation is open to all those who have been baptised and is another moment in which you can make the public statement of your faith and commitment to Jesus Church. If you have already been confirmed, the you are also welcome to renew those commitments and vows through 'renewal' which is very similar to confirmation, but acknowledges you as coming once again to make those promises and reaffirm your faith.

Please speak with one of the ministry team if you are interested in learning more about Confirmation or Renewal - we would love to walk with you in making this public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ.
