Junior Archery - huge success

We ran our first ever Junior Archery Workshop, July 4th.

What a fun morning we had in the Octagon learning how to shoot arrows with about a dozen young ones, mostly under 10’s.

Being for younger archers, and indoors, we used ‘soft’ archery gear to keep everything safe; the arrows have big rubber suckers on the tips, and they stick firmly to the smooth-faced targets. Just as well, as a few did end up stuck to the windows!

Our young archers were all really keen to learn and they picked up the skills very quickly. After some lessons and practice, we had a couple of rounds of fun competitions. The enthusiasm and excitement was a joy to see (if not to hear!) Several really got the archery bug and are keen to pursue the sport.

Mums, dad’s and grandparents even got to have a go – the enthusiastic young ones excitedly passing on their new-found skills and showing them how it’s done :-)

We will do another ‘grown-up’ archery for the 10-plus’s and adults, probably in September. Keep an eye out for dates.

A great day all round – thanks to everyone who came and supported and participated. We definitely have to do it again.
