Junior Youth pouring out the story

At our Junior Youth gathering in the past week, Catherine Joule, our Ministry Intern, gave a presentation on the story of the scriptures through the medium of pottery. Each of the pots represented elements symbolicaly and stylistically of the time and events of different iterations of the revelation of God to the world. Beginning with creation, the water was poured to a jug reflecting the calling of Abraham, then poured into the people of Israel, then into the Kings and onward until today, as the revelation is poured into the church.
The youth absolutely loved the interactive nature of the teaching, with the opportunity to pour from the jugs a much valued honour. It was remarkable how many stories and components of the teaching the youth already knew, a testament to the work we have been doing to engage them in the scriptures and the story of God. It was particularly pleasing to see how many knew the Exodus story which had been a key teaching of the prior year through a documentary and challenge we offered.
Our thanks to Catherine for the excellent work. The exhibition of jugs continues to be shown in the lounge at All Saints'. Each work was handcrafted and prepared by Catherine who has a real gift in pottery.
