The gift of reading

On Tuesday, Alan was privileged to attend the end of year assembly for Tamatea Primary School. Taradale Anglican Church and Tamatea Primary School have had a partnership for the past two years, with our community sponsoring the school's participation in the Duffy Books in Schools programme. The programme helps every child at the school receive two books to take home every term, bringing the gift of reading to homes that may otherwise be without books.

The assembly involved presenting the Duffy Mainfreight Award for Excellence to a student that had demonstrated commitment, leadership and tenacity throughout the year. This year, the award was given to Jeremiah, a leading student whose dedication to study and to sport has made him stand out this year. Congratulations Jeremiah!

We look forward to continuing our sponsorship of the Duffy Books in Schools programme in the New Year, and to helping bring the joy of reading into more homes at Tamatea Primary School.
